Just as expected, October 8, 1955 turned out to be a busy day for Ellen. She was the perfect wife whom took great pride in keeping the home in mint condition. The moment she longed for finally arrived. The birth of her first born, a baby boy whom she named Eliot. Her husband, mourning the death of his mother and fighting constant ill health turned to alcohol for solace and was absent from home for long periods of time engaged in either business, pleasure or medical treatment. Ellen struggled to balance her disillusionment with her husband and her responsibilities toward her newborn baby, Eliot. As the years passed, the young mother became disconsolate. One morning as she was performing her housekeeping duties she became distracted and Eliot now three years of age, got a hold of a bottle containing a red oily poisonous substance and swallow a good portion of the bottle, that cause him to fall unconscious to the ground. His face turned red as he was gasping for air. Ellen manage to rush him to the hospital, screaming along the way. My son! oh God! Please don't let him die! Eliot was in a coma for about two months, no signs of recovery. In a morning visit at the hospital, Ellen standing at his bedside, noticed that her little boy started moving his arms and head. Ellen could not be happier that day. "Eliot, can you hear me? and Eliot for the first time since the accident responded affirmative shaking his head. Suddenly he opened his eyes and Ellen notice that his eyes were as red as an apple. Concern about it she calls the doctor and asked her: "Doctor, I notice my sons eyes are red! Will they clear and go back to its normal state? The Doctor responded: "The boy is still under delicate care. At this time I can not guarantee full recovery, we hope they clear as the days go by. Nevertheless, Ellen was happy to know that her son was able to wake up from the coma. After six months in the hospital, Eliot recovered most of his health; however, Eliot's eyes were still bloody red. According to the Doctor it was impossible to determine if the eyes would ever go back to normal. The good news was that Eliot is back to being a healthy boy inspite of his red eyes.
